Lycée Condorcet

Lycée Condorcet is a state school in Belfort near the German and Swiss borders. The town is situated at the junction of Latin and Germanic cultures and has double cultural inheritage. It has 1102 students in global among which 125 post-baccalaureate and there are 100 teachers in different subjects. It are very aware of the importance of working internationally, and openess to interculturality is part of the official aims of the school . The institute actually has different sections that are completely turned towards international awareness. First an Abibac section which allows students to take both exams , the German Abitur and the French baccalaureat . Then there are three European sections, one in English, one in Italian and one in German. All three provide History lessons taught in the language of the section. In all these sections, exchanges and trips are organised every year and German and Italian teachers and students are regularly welcomed in the lessons. The school is very open to culture, each year it programmes a lot of visits of museums and exhibitions and it welcomes artists in its walls for exhibitions and lectures. Moreover one of its priorities is to integrate pupils from very different backgrounds. When trips are organised, the school provides for disadvantaged pupils and pays for them. The students also have the opportunity to go to the theatre once a month with a teacher. A theatre section is very active inside the school , and they present a performance at the end of the year. Clubs are organised by the students themselves; there is a school newspaper run by students with the support of some teachers, a club about mangas and another one about fantasy literature. The school teachers have already worked with their classes on Twinspaces promoting the cultural heritage of the city and made them aware of how rich , historically and culturally the city is, and they would like to share this knowledge and pride with partners all over Europe. Most of them use computing skills, especially the two teachers that will be responsible for the project. The teachers involved in the project are all fluent in English; one teaches English, the second teaches History in English in the European English section. They already work with project teaching and are aware of the importance of teaching by doing. One of the teachers involved is an eTwinning ambassador, with a national and European quality label for 2018. The other teacher was already involved in a Comenius programme a few years ago. The said teachers work in collaboration with the team of colleagues that teach in their classes and are used to involving the whole school in their activities. They always share their expertise and because of this in case they should leave their post in the future there will be a teacher ready to replace them and with thorough knowledge of the project requirements.
